Dr. Nora Hilgert (Festival Director in 2021)

Nora Hilgert holds a doctorate in history and has been director of the Weimar Rendez-vous with History in 2021. She had been active on the festival’s academic advisory board since 2010. The long-time executive director of the German Association of Historians spent a year in Washington in 2020, where she directed the German Historical Institute’s press and strategy department.

The Weimar festival is particularly close to her heart because it has been promoting a unique dialogue between society and the humanities and social sciences.

In 2022, Nora Hilgert will have to leave the festival again with a heavy heart for health reasons. But she is pleased that with Dr. Andreas Braune a new scientific director has been found who is one of the founders of the festival and can continue the innovations initiated last year. With a lot of commitment and his own accents, he will shape a festival in a transitional format in 2022 and the new edition in 2023. The Friends and the Scientific Advisory Board would like to thank Dr. Nora Hilgert for her dedicated work over the past year and wish her all the best for the future.
